Last week marked an important occasion as Rachel Cooper, barrister with Coram Chambers, delivered a compelling wellbeing session for the Family team at Birketts LLP. Coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Week, which ran from 12th to 18th May, the seminar focused on the crucial theme of resilience for family lawyers in today’s demanding legal landscape.

The session titled “Resilience for Family Lawyers” delved into several critical areas, including the distinctions between resilience and toxic resilience, an exploration of stress and its significance, and strategies for recognising burnout.

Throughout this open and engaging presentation, Rachel emphasised practical techniques aimed at empowering solicitors to enhance their resilience and effectively manage stress within the family law sector.

Attendees were highly complimentary of the session, with feedback highlighting its relevance and depth. One participant noted, “That really was an excellent seminar, the best one on wellbeing for a very long time. It was tailored, personal, and backed up with some science.
