Coram Chambers recently transformed the East Terrace at Lincoln’s Inn into a vibrant hub of celebration, hosting a Triple Summer Party Celebration to honour three significant milestones: Alison Easton KC becoming Silk, Martha Cover’s retirement, and the 25th anniversary of Coram Chambers itself.

With over 300 attendees gathered, the evening began outside in the beautiful sunshine, accompanied by food and drinks, and featuring live music from the fantastic Versa Winds Quartet. This was followed by a festive party in the Great Hall.

Mark Twomey KC, joint head of chambers, delivered a heartfelt speech reflecting on Coram Chambers’ journey since its inception in 2000. He emphasised that the success of the chambers is rooted in its dedicated staff and the vital role of women and their promotion within the justice system. Special mention was made of the outstanding clerking team led by Sean Gentleman, whose support has been instrumental over the years.

Martha Cover, celebrated for her contributions to family law, took a moment to reflect on her illustrious career. She highlighted the tremendous advancements she had witnessed in the sophistication of the UK’s family judiciary, particularly praising the research efforts that amplify the voice of the child in legal matters. She commended the Association of Lawyers for Children (ALC) and acknowledged Professor Karen Broadhurst OBE and her team at Lancaster University for their significant contributions.

In a touching tribute, Martha also recognised Alison Easton KC, her colleague and joint head of Coram Chambers, on achieving Silk this year. Alison shared her personal journey to this esteemed position, paying homage to Martha’s remarkable legacy in family law.

The evening would not have been complete without the acknowledgement of George Mo, a long-standing member of the clerking team now serving as Senior Practice Manager, who was recognised multiple times throughout the night for his invaluable contributions.

As the formalities concluded, the atmosphere transitioned into a lively celebration in the Great Hall. Attendees danced the night away to the energetic tunes of the live band ‘She Plays Live’ and the engaging DJ/Percussionist ‘She Plays Drums’, ensuring a joyous end to the festivities.

Coram Chambers is grateful to all who attended and to the wonderful feedback and congratulatory messages received from all sectors of the family law community.
