Coram Chambers Barristers Support Dads House Pro-Bono Week Family Law Clinic

Coram Chambers barristers supported Dads House during Pro-Bono Week, providing key advice at the Family Law Clinic and taking part in a panel on domestic abuse. Learn how the team championed access to justice for families.

Coram Chambers barristers have once again demonstrated their commitment to access to justice by supporting Dads House during the annual Pro-Bono Week.

This year’s event, held at Dads House and the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, brought together leading family law experts and aspiring practitioners for a powerful panel discussion on domestic abuse and the challenges faced by vulnerable clients in the family courts as well as providing free family law clinics with over 41 years of combined child law expertise.

The Event at Middle Temple

The event at Middle Temple, chaired by Ceri Parker-Carruthers of Dads House, featured an esteemed panel including Her Honour Judge Sapnara, Jonathan Sampson KC, Simon Bruce, and Coram Chambers’ own Sophie Hill

Each speaker offered valuable insights into safeguarding clients while maintaining the objectivity required by the legal process. Sophie, who is also Honorary Counsel at Dads House, described the session as “thought-provoking” and praised the panel for its focus on moving forward as a profession and a society to better address domestic abuse.

Coram Pro Bono Week Takeover

Throughout the week, Coram Chambers ‘took over’ the Dads House Family Law Clinic, providing vital legal advice to parents in need. Hannah Whitehouse led informative sessions for law students and managed client appointments, while barristers Sam Watts, Pollyanna Furness, and Sophie supported parents with practical guidance.

The clinic, which operates every Wednesday and Friday, continues to play a crucial role for families navigating family breakdown.

The Pro-Bono Week event was made possible thanks to the support of Cansford Labs, who sponsored student tickets, as well as the dedication of the organising team, including Simon Bruce, Alex Baguley, Alex Ryder, and Simon Boutwood. Special thanks also go to Harry Butcher, Senior Practice Manager at Coram Chambers, for coordinating a strong team of barristers for the clinic.
