Victoria is developing a practice in all areas of family law, especially public children, private children, injunctive proceedings under the Family Law Act 1996 and family finance.
Victoria regularly acts in all areas of private children law involving applications for Child Arrangements Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders, Specific Issue Orders and enforcement proceedings. She has experience in complex cases, for example involving implacable hostility, and has acted for NYAS in intractable contact disputes. Victoria has represented parents and local authorities in care proceedings, at emergency, interim, case management and final hearings.
During pupillage Victoria experienced care cases involving non-accidental injuries, international abduction, forced marriage protection, female genital mutilation and international adoption. Finance experience includes cases involving TOLATA claims and applications to set-aside consent orders on the basis of material non-disclosure.
Victoria is an experienced conference speaker and is happy to provide training in house and is currently providing workshops to local authorities. Victoria also has experience of training social workers in preparation for giving evidence in care proceedings.
Prior to commencing pupillage, Victoria was a paralegal within a busy local authority child protection team. She worked on complex cases including those involving non-accidental injuries, child sexual exploitation and serious sexual abuse.
Following completion of her degree and masters in Philosophy, Victoria ran the Aimhigher Associates mentoring project in Greater Manchester, training undergraduates as mentors in schools and colleges to widen participation in higher education, often involving children from a care background.
