Divya Bhatia

Barrister

About

Divya practises exclusively in family work, primarily in financial remedy cases. She deals with a wide range of medium to high asset cases and all levels of complexity.  She provides comprehensive and commercial advice and strives to secure the best possible outcome for her clients.

Experience

Divya’s primary focus is client care.  She gives clear, pragmatic and realistic advice, always seeking to manage a client’s expectations and anxieties.  She is approachable and calm and has a sensible and straightforward approach to cases.  Divya enjoys working collaboratively with her solicitors.  This ensures strategic case management and early resolution wherever possible.

Divya negotiates forcefully, but fairly, to achieve a favourable result for her client.  If negotiation fails, she is a robust advocate who will fight her corner. She has considerable expertise in achieving settlement in private FDRs and round table negotiations, thereby saving her clients costs flowing from unnecessary litigation.

Divya has a particular interest in and experience of cases involving third party interventions, disputes between cohabitees under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and applications under Schedule 1 to the Children Act 1989. She has appeared before tribunals at every level, including the Supreme Court.
