Tickets are now on sale for the highly anticipated second East London Local Family Justice Board (ELLFJB) Conference, taking place on 8 October 2025 at the Town Hall, London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural event, the 2025 conference promises to continue inspiring and informing everyone working within the family justice sector.
Chaired by our Designated Family Judge, Her Honour Judge Atkinson, the conference will run from 9.30am registration, with the formal programme commencing at 10am and concluding with a networking reception from 4.30pm.
The day’s theme, “Young people: improving outcomes in family justice”, sets the tone for a programme packed with essential discussions and expert panels.
The President of the Family Division will deliver the welcome address, setting the stage for a keynote speech from Sophie Humphreys OBE.
Attendees can look forward to a panel on supporting young people into adulthood, with speakers including Dr Ruth Weir and Matthew Jeary, tackling complex issues such as domestic abuse and toxic masculinity.
Another panel will discuss the experiences of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and those trafficked from abroad, featuring HHJ Bugg and Dr Helen Connolly.
The day will also feature a conversation on adolescent behaviour and brain development with Dr Malcolm Bourne, Dr Peter Maggs and Dr Tammy Surgenor, and a discussion on contextual safeguarding and exploitation led by Claire Fitzpatrick and Jahnine Davis.
Tickets are available for £39 (plus booking fee), inclusive of lunch and refreshments, via Ticket Tailor here. A limited number of free tickets are allocated to each East London local authority and to Cafcass to assist social workers and children’s guardians in attending.
The conference offers invaluable professional development for lawyers, social work practitioners, children’s guardians and all those involved in family justice. For the full programme, speaker details and updates, visit here.
Sponsors of the event include DNA Legal, Dr Grange & Associates, Our Family Wizard, Willis Palmer, Forensic Testing Service, MEWA and Coram Chambers.
Whilst the main focus is the upcoming conference, it is worth noting that Victoria Roberts, barrister at Coram Chambers, has recently been appointed as joint chair of the ELLFJB, reflecting Coram Chambers’ ongoing commitment to family justice in East London.
