The Domestic Abuse Bill – Commentary

Home » News » The Domestic Abuse Bill – Commentary

Hannah Gomersall wrote a recent commentary on the Domestic Abuse Bill for Family Law Week, titled “The Domestic Abuse Bill: a long-awaited overhaul or flawed legislation with an implementation problem?”

In her article, Hannah examines why the bill is needed, its key provisions, and current domestic abuse protection notices and orders. She looks at the DAPO regime and comments on how court unity, the court’s ability to process high volumes of applications, and Article 6 ECHR all play into its effectiveness. Hannah also discusses the bill at a political level and practical realities of implementation.
