Coram’s Olivia Kirkbride appeared in the Court of Appeal yesterday, led by Harcourt’s Edward Devereux QC on a monumental pro bono case.

The Court of Appeal overturned a decision which permitted a hospital to withdraw life sustaining treatment for AH, a 56 year old women who is said to be “the most complex Covid patient in the world”. The appeal was brought by AH’s children, A, M, S and K who were represented by Edward Devereux QC of Harcourt Chambers and Olivia Kirkbride of Coram Chambers. Both acted pro bono and were instructed by Dawson Cornwell, who were also instructed on a pro bono basis.

The decision overturns the earlier decision of Mr Justice Hayden.
