Shiva Ancliffe appeared before the Justice Select Committee on behalf of the Bar Council last Tuesday in respect of their enquiry into the MOJ’s LASPO review (before the publication of the report which was released two days later). The JSC was receptive to hearing the concerns of all the stake holders as to the review process and the impact of LASPO on the justice system.
The release of the MOJ’s post implementation review report last week is immensely disappointing and does little to facilitate access to justice. The headline is that there is a promise of some additional investment of up to £5m to improve technology for accessing legal advice and £3m over two years to help litigants in person navigate the court system. The campaign to fund a fair justice system goes on.
