At the recent Virtual Public Children Law Conference held by Family Law Week, Coram Chambers’ Shiva Ancliffe KC and Srishti Suresh presented on trauma-informed responses to domestic abuse in public law proceedings.
Shiva and Srishti explored the case for trauma-informed practice in public law cases featuring domestic abuse as a key safeguarding risk. They compared the current framework to issue-specific models in other types of cases, such as Child Focused Courts and FDAC. The session explored practical strategies for legal professionals, with particular focus on the voice of the child and effective multi-agency collaboration.
