Coram is a leading family law chambers providing representation and advice to clients in human rights matters in London and across England and Wales.
Coram has a proactive commitment to assisting clients to bring and successfully to argue Human Right Act 1998 claims for declarations and for compensation by way of damages. The cases in which members have been instructed in 2016 and 2017 include applications both made within existing family law proceedings and as free-standing applications.
As of July 2017, members of the human rights team are advising and appearing in cases involving the deprivation of the liberty of a child, the abuse of section 20 arrangements and infringements arising from the alleged failure of a local authority to intervene to protect children from abuse.
Our human rights barristers convert their experience into seminars on issues that arise both for claimants and defendants in human rights cases including ‘conflict’ of Rules, appropriate causes of action, litigation strategy for children in particular and generally, and as to quantum and costs.
