About

Georgina specialises in financial disputes on divorce, relationship breakdown and contentious children cases, involving welfare issues, relocation and abduction. Regarded as a highly knowledgeable and skilful advocate with a real flair for putting people at their ease, Georgina’s knowledge of French and German makes her an excellent choice for any case with an international element.

Experience

Georgina’s practice encompasses all areas of private family law with a focus on financial remedy upon divorce, cohabitation disputes, schedule 1 and complex children cases involving both welfare and international issues. Georgina appears regularly in the High Court and has also appeared in the Court of Appeal.

Georgina has been a member of chambers since 2010. Before joining, with an important scholarship, Georgina was employed by Hugh James, a top 100 UK law firm based in Cardiff, working on high net worth divorce cases and child abduction cases. Georgina had previously embarked on an acting career and combined her training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with work as a bilingual assistant for Campbell Lutyens, a corporate finance boutique in Mayfair. This experience affords Georgina a commanding presence in court and an insight into complex financial arrangements.

  • In the High Court, in an application under the inherent jurisdiction concerning an alleged abduction
  • In the High Court, successfully opposing an application for permission to appeal a financial order;
  • Negotiating, advising on and drafting a detailed financial settlement in high value financial proceedings following the dissolution of a civil partnership;
  • In the High Court, in an application under the Child Abduction and Custody Act 1985 for the summary return of two children;
  • In the Court of Appeal in a case about the court’s jurisdiction under Brussel’s IIA;
  • In the High Court, in a three-day contested jurisdiction dispute, determining the habitual residence of a child as a preliminary issue;
  • In the High Court, in a case concerning substantial assets and an application for a world-wide freezing order;
  • Advice in relation to a pre-nuptial agreement involving a lottery win.

Georgina is married and lives in London with her husband and daughter and combines her practice with a full family life. Georgina is a member of the Chelsea and Westminster Save the Children committee.
