Ancillary Relief
Richard acts and advises in all areas of ancillary relief and matrimonial finance cases, in Schedule 1 Children Act applications, in co-habitation and TOLATA cases and all related enforcement proceedings. Richard has also undertaken ancillary relief work under instruction from the Official Solicitor.
Children
Richard is regularly instructed in private law Children Act cases, including cases with immigration or jurisdictional issues. In public law, Richard is regularly instructed for local authorities, parents and Guardians ad litem in care proceedings, including at ICO and EPO stage. He is adept at representing clients with mental health problems and limited cognitive functioning.
Domestic violence
Richard routinely undertakes Family Law Act injunction and fact-finding work in cases involving domestic violence and harassment.
Richard completed pupilage at the human rights set Garden Court Chambers prior to joining Coram. He was instructed by CAFCASS as a legal researcher in Re: B (Children) [2008] UKHL 35, and also undertook immigration and asylum appeals. Prior to starting pupilage, he worked as a paralegal in the Family department at Manches LLP, where he worked on Charman v Charman [2007] EWCA Civ 503, and on several high-profile Hague Convention cases.
