Neil Fry practises solely in family law. His work comprises all aspects of family law including applications for residence, contact, specific issue and prohibited steps orders, emergency protection, care and supervision orders, secure accommodation orders, adoption, applications under the Family Law Act 1996, divorce, judicial separation and nullity, ancillary relief, financial provision pursuant to Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989 and applications under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996. He has a keen interest in cases with an international element and appears in many leave to remove cases.
A large part of Neil's work is in care proceedings. He has considerable experience of cases of sexual, physical and emotional abuse. A particular area of focus for him has been work involving parents with long-term addiction or mental health problems.
Neil also deals with all types of ancillary relief cases and property disputes, both in terms of written advice and advocacy. He is frequently instructed in those cases in which there is also an argument about children. He continues to act in private law children's cases, being particularly instructed in cases in which there are allegations of sexual abuse and non-compliance with contact orders.
Neil believes that client care is of fundamental importance and understands that clients involved in family cases may be experiencing one of the most difficult and stressful periods of their lives. His sympathetic approach will reassure clients but, when necessary, he balances this with strong and realistic advice so that the client is prepared, as far as possible, for the likely outcome of proceedings.
With professional clients, Neil takes great care to ensure that both the letter and spirit of his instructions are observed, adapting his skills to the tenor of the instructions.
Neil is a trained mediator.
