Particular Practice Interests

Laura’s public law practice has included cases involving neglect, emotional harm, allegations of sexual abuse and physical harm. She is regularly instructed in adoption and placement order applications. Laura represents Local Authorities, parents and Childrens Guardians at all stages of the proceedings.

She also has experience of the Family Drug and Alcohol Court.

Laura’s private law practice involves all aspects including Section 8 proceedings, Special Guardianship applications, leave to remove from the jurisdiction and abduction. She is regularly instructed to represent parents, Rule 9.5 Guardians and other parties joined in fact finding and disposal hearings.

Laura undertakes the full range of work under the Family Law Act 1996, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

Laura has an established ancillary relief practice, advising and representing clients at all stages of the proceedings.

Relevant Background

Laura previously worked for a charity advising and representing within the immigration and asylum arena, including those held in detention. She has previously been an accredited Senior Immigration and Asylum Caseworker with the Legal Services Commission. Laura welcomes instruction in family law issues with an immigration or asylum dimension.

Laura currently volunteers for the Rights of Women charity, advising on their evening advice line regarding family law and domestic violence issues.
