Children
Jackie Roach's practice
covers the full range of public and private law
children cases. She represents local
authorities, parents, children and interveners
in the former, while, in the latter, she has a
particular interest in jurisdictional issues and
in applications for injunctions and committals.
She appears in courts at all levels.
Examples of Jackie's work
are public law cases for local authorities
involving allegations of non-accidental injury
and/or sexual abuse that are also the subject of
criminal investigation; cases involving parents
who under a disability; private law proceedings
that involve issues of implacable hostility; and
applications for injunctions resulting from
serious assault.
Jackie has a particular
interest in fact-finding hearings in cases in
which there are issues of serious non-accidental
injury or sexual abuse; cases involving parents
with mental disability or psychological
difficulties; both public and private law
proceedings in respect of removal of children
from the jurisdiction; and cases in which the
issue is the effect of domestic violence on
contact.
Before coming to the Bar,
Jackie worked in publishing and then in public
relations running the CAB's press office.
She holds a diploma in journalism from the
University of Westminster.
