Although Cathy Nicholes's background is in criminal, civil and family law, she has for some time practised exclusively in family law.

Cathy sits as a Deputy District Judge at the Principal Registry of the Family Division and in the County Court. She has been a committee member of and adviser at the Islington Free Advice Centre for over twenty years.
